In 1980 charged by the Rebbe with the responsibility of helping to unify a growing Jewish Russian community and to infuse it with Jewish pride, joy, and knowledge, Rabbi Yoseph Zaltzman and his wife Chiena moved to Toronto. Right away the JRCC became the first organization in Ontario to successfully serve the Jewish Russian community, building off of the pioneering work done by Chabad worldwide. Our mission at the JRCC is to achieve Jewish identity, continuity and integrity among the Jews from the Former Soviet Union and their families by providing educational, spiritual, religious and cultural community services, bringing us closer to a redeemed and perfect world.
